This guide aims to help you decide whether you can turn your dream into a sustainable and financially secure reality. This includes 12 case studies as well as checklists and forms for evaluating the prospect of starting a museum. This was written for museum start-ups in New Zealand, however, much of it applies to museums anywhere. It also considers museum alternatives such as digital museums, joining an existing museum, and working with local organizations.
