Good collection storage is a major component of your park’s preventive conservation and collections care program. It is essential to the long-term
preservation of your park’s museum collection. A well-planned and organized storage space reduces risks to the collection and provides accessibility.
Deterioration, damage, or loss will be minimized if you implement:

  • proper storage space, strategies and techniques
  • good handling practices
  • effective security and fire protection
  • good housekeeping practices
  • appropriate environmental conditions
  • an effective Integrated Pest Management program
