Good collection storage is a major component of your park’s preventive conservation and collections care program. It is essential to the long-term
preservation of your park’s museum collection. A well-planned and organized storage space reduces risks to the collection and provides accessibility.
Deterioration, damage, or loss will be minimized if you implement:
- proper storage space, strategies and techniques
- good handling practices
- effective security and fire protection
- good housekeeping practices
- appropriate environmental conditions
- an effective Integrated Pest Management program
