I have a 1940s nurse’s dress that is polyester and has yellowed with age. We are putting it on display in our medical exhibit, but it looks terrible with the stark white nurse’s cap. The garment is in otherwise excellent condition. I have read that soaking the dress in a mixture of warm water, oxyclean and white vinegar will remove the yellowing. Is this safe? Does anyone have a better suggestion?
