We need an economical solution for a difficult problem.
We have the trains, crowns, mantles, and scepters associated with a local ethnic springtime festival and parade. The festival has “royalty”, and has had for 130 years. Sometimes these trains measure 20 feet in length, 8 feet at the widest point, and are made with the most elaborate and delicate of embellishments. It is a textile conservator’s nightmare. We hate folding these things, but we need a solution. We have them in archival boxes… when they fit. Some do fit. Most haven’t a dream of a prayer of fitting in a box… not a box you can actually use, move, or store. 18 foot boxes aren’t something we can do.
Any ideas?! My collections manager is going to have an aneurism.
