      Good Afternoon, All:

Quick question. I have tons of digital images and documents that are strewn all over our server. I would like to purchase proprietary software to manage that digital content. I am not looking to have the program up-and-running for public display, but merely trying to organize and add metadata to the files at this time. While I am not opposed to having a public access available, I must be able to turn that feature off and on.

Anyone have any recommendations on software they are using to organize and add valuable content to their born digital materials? Any thoughts on what to look for or avoid?

      Thanks,

      Chanin

For images it is hard to beat Picasa, free from Google. It will find every image on your system, and allow you to search, to rename, add tags, titles, metadata, reorganise, create discs and slideshows, search by faces, export, resize, do simple edits (without affecting the original image), batch organise, backup online, share …. all without adding load to your computer system because it doesn’t copy the images, it just stores the data of where and what they are. It is simply brilliant.
OK, that’s half the problem sorted. Now, anyone got a good program for the documents?

Thanks for the response, Helena, I will certainly check into Picasa.

      Cheers!
