We have many copper printing plates attached to wood blocks. They need a basic “cleaning” before rehousing to clean off the dirt, at least. What have others done? Distilled water and soft rag or pad? Do no harm is certainly my motto. Others have a lot of ink on them and that’s a different issue. Thanks! Mary Ames Booker, Battleship North Carolina; curator@battleshipnc.com
I am in the same boat. We have copper plates attached to wood blocks and lead plates attached to wood blocks. We want to clean them but I’ve found varying suggestions. If you’ve found any good information, I’d love to know.
