I have inherited a collection of CD/CD-ROM/DVD’s and am wondering how best to house them. They are currently in paper envelopes or jewel cases but some came in sleeves within binders. I’ve heard that jewel cases are ideal. Is this the case? I was thinking I would put them in jewel cases and box them in an archival CD box. Would paper disc envelopes suffice? Any guidance is appreciated!
Hi Kate,
The Canadian Conservation Institute Note 19/1: Longevity of Recordable CDs and DVDs has good basic info, including recommendations for storage and handling. It is available online at http://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/publications/notes/19-1-eng.aspx .
Thank you, Jane!
