Let Heritage Preservation know if you or a museum, library, or heritage collectons or sites have sustained storm damage–we can connect you with resources. Heritage Preservation’s Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel is available as a free app. Go to the iTunes App Store and search for “ERS: Emergency Response and Salvage.” Once you install the app, the information will be in your device–no internet connectivity will be needed to access the information. This is even a handy resource if you or someone you know have damaged family heirlooms. Stay dry and safe everyone!
Another great free resource for cultural institutions in the AIC-Cultural Emergency Response Team (AIC-CERT). AIC-CERT responds to the needs of cultural institutions during emergencies and disasters through coordinated efforts with first responders, state agencies, vendors and the public. Volunteers can provide advice and referrals by phone 24 hours a day by calling (202) 661-8068. Requests for onsite assistance will be forwarded by the volunteer to the AIC-CERT Coordinator and Project Director for response. Less urgent questions can also be answered by emailing info@conservation-us.org. Please don’t hesitate to contact us!

I would also like to remind people of the Society of American Archivists’
National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives.
Any repository that holds archival records or special collections is eligible to apply for a grant. The repository need not be a member of SSA or SAA. Grant monies may be used for the direct recovery of damaged or at-risk archival materials; such services as freeze drying, storage, transportation of materials, and rental facilities; supplies, including acid-free boxes and folders, storage cartons, cleaning materials, plastic milk crates, and protective gear; and to defray the costs for volunteers or other laborers who assist with the recovery.
