Any one have any good sources for museum track lighting. We are re-modeling our exhibit halls and looking for types and resources. We have all the technical information.

    Hi Paul,
The American Association of Museum’s “Museum Marketplace” Web page is a good place to start when looking for vendors. See http://tiny.cc/o1zus. If you have considered LED lighting, the American Institute for Conservation has a helpful Web page on it at http://tiny.cc/59r3v. Kristen

Thanks Kristen. We are members of the AAM, but sometimes we forget to look at what is right under our noses.

We just completed two exhibition rooms and used Lightolier basic track #6000 and lamps #6296. We are pleased with the quality and versatility of the product.http://www.lightolier.com/home/home-swf.jsp

Thanks Connie, can you provide any costs? I have to go out of state for a distributor and very few list prices. I am putting together a grant and need numbers.

Sorry Paul, the email went into my spam folder. Our rooms are not large. We had two rooms with 30 ft of Lightolier single track installed at costs of $1950 per room including installation; in addition, the cost of 20 low voltage 50-watt MR 16 fixtures and bulbs came to $1760. We also had dimmer switches installed which we love. They can be set to return to the amount of light usually used or changed independently depending on the conditions.

Thanks Connie, we three large rooms and three landings we are doing. I got a local architect to help out. He called in a favor with a lighting company and we got some good numbers. Looking at our larger rooms it appears that your numbers are right in line with what I have.
