I found this site for Massachusetts organizations digital repository.  Maybe other states have something similar.  http://digitalcommonwealth.org/about

Ron:  California also has a repository with some interesting links.

The repository provides a set of self-service interfaces that the libraries use to deposit and manage digital objects, relieving individual libraries of the burden of creating and maintaining custom digital repositories. The services and storage are based at the California Digital Library.

We (historical society) have been using http://www.archive.org to make much of our digitized material available from our website. So far it has worked great. It is also a good resource for digitized books that we may no longer want to keep on our shelves.
